Role & Responsibilities

My main role was Game Design & Integration but I ended up doing a bit of everything depending on the sprints.

My responsibilities were:

- Designing and implementing the Mechanics

- Making the required blueprints

- Making the Materials and VFXs for the bosses

- Bug Fixing / Troubleshooting

In the end, I ended up doing Voice lines, Narratives, Level Design, Level Art, VFXs, QA testing.

Team Project

This was a larger team project compared to my other one, we were a team of 7 but lost a member to mental illness along the way.

This project got off to a rough start with many communication issues but those were resovled not too long after.

We were pretty insistent on following up with every one and didn't hesitate to shake people who weren't pulling their weight and if we didn't believe they'd pull through we resitributed their sprint's work amongst ourselves.

In the final few sprints, the active members were a well oiled machine and we gave it everything we had to make this game as good as we could.

Mechanics & Tasks

Mechanics:

- Health and Damage System

- Flashlight lighting and Damage

- Changing Filters loads/unload objects

- Dash and Double Jump

- Gnome Collecting

- Respawns

Tasks:

- Voiced Boss 2

- Wrote Ending Script

- Polished Levels

- Improved Game's feel

- Made the player's intended path easier to find

Facing Issues

As mentioned in the Team Project paragraph, we faced many issues. Ranging from communication issues to technical issues. Some members lost their cool a few times but I made sure to stay calm and work things out with them, helping whenever I could. Some issues needed more drastic mesures and some people are much harder to work with but with enough time and effort you can learn to work with them or around them if needed.

This has helped me develop a much stronger professional attitude and I'm sure in a few years I'll look back on those experiences and be thankful for them having prepared me for the harsh industry.
